The risks

‘Faking’ a public free wireless network is easy. Hackers can see all your connections.

Once you connect to such a network, all the information you are sending can be intercepted, including emails, passwords, credit card details, e-banking transactions, pictures, etc.

Useful tips

Protect all communication by using dedicated software (VPN, Virtual Private Network):

  • for business purposes use Givaudan SRA-Pulse while connected to a public WiFi network

  • for private use many VPN software products are reliable

If you don’t use such software, consider your internet activities as public.

Scary statistics

48% of senior managers and 43% of mid-level managers use unsecure public access WiFi networks to connect their work devices when abroad.
