Wild chamomile is a perennial herb with hairy leaves. It grows widely in the wild in northern Morocco and the Gharb region. With the recurring droughts in Morocco and urban development, wild collection sites have become rare, leading to the expansion of cultivated areas of wild chamomile.

Wild chamomile blooms from May to July with flowers with a sunny yellow centre surrounded by white ligules with a yellow base. The plant is harvested by hand and then steam distilled.
