Givaudan donates CHF 150,000 to support disaster-affected communities in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam

Donation to assist Red Cross relief operations following widespread flooding and landslides

Givaudan has announced a donation of CHF 150,000 to support communities in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam severely affected by recent extreme weather events. Since November 2025, millions of people across the region have been impacted by a series of cyclones and prolonged monsoon rains that have triggered catastrophic flooding and landslides.

The donation, made through Givaudan’s Humanitarian Fund, will be channelled through the Swiss Red Cross to national Red Cross societies in the three countries to strengthen local relief operations and support integrated assistance for affected communities, including emergency shelter, health and sanitation, water access and livelihood recovery.

“We are deeply saddened by the scale of destruction across Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam as a result of these recent events. With our strong presence and long‑standing relationships in these countries, we stand in solidarity with all those impacted. Through the Givaudan Humanitarian Fund and our partnership with the Swiss Red Cross, we aim to help ensure that relief reaches those who need it most and that families can begin rebuilding their lives.”

Simon Halle‑Smith, Head of Global Human Resources and EHS at Givaudan

In Indonesia, severe flooding and landslides struck North Sumatra, West Sumatra and Aceh during late November as a result of Cyclone Senyar and continued heavy rains into January. The disaster has caused extensive loss of life and property, with more than 3 million people affected.

In Sri Lanka, Cyclone Ditwah led to one of the country’s worst natural disasters on record, with hundreds of lives lost and tens of thousands displaced. One third of the population suffered from loss of power and running water in the immediate aftermath, while widespread crop destruction has compounded the humanitarian crisis. The Sri Lankan government has declared a national emergency, and early recovery costs are estimated at over USD 7 billion with more than a million residents requiring humanitarian assistance.

In Vietnam, torrential rains from Cyclones Kalmaegi and Koto during November and December have caused severe flooding across the central region. Thousands of households were forced to evacuate, infrastructure and schools have been heavily damaged and access to clean water, food and essential supplies remains limited.

This latest donation reflects Givaudan’s ongoing commitment to provide humanitarian support in countries where it operates through the Givaudan Humanitarian Fund. Launched in December 2024, the fund has now provided support totalling CHF 500,000 to communities facing emergencies and natural disasters, including recent allocations in Malaysia and the Philippines.
