Vetiver Oil Haiti SIGNature

WOODY | Woody, Earthy
Detail shot of vetiver roots

In this modern interpretation, the velvety, textured scent of vetiver root is wrapped in a refined woody warmth. Our Vetiver Oil Haiti SIGNature vibrates from top to bottom with crystalline mineral facets, sparkling with bitter and fruity grapefruit undertones and fleeting nutty notes that reveal themselves on evaporation. The long dry-down is dressed with the roundness and sophistication of a balanced vetiver oil.

Native to India, vetiver has spread widely throughout tropical regions. Today, it is mainly cultivated in Indonesia and Haiti. The main vetiver growing region is Les Cayes in Haiti. A grass that can grow up to two metres tall, Vetiveria zizanoides hides its delicate fragrance in its fine, fibrous roots. Anchored deeply in the ground, vetiver develops a dense network of slender, hairy roots that can also reach two metres in length.

At harvest time, from January to July, the leaves are cut, the clumps of roots are pulled out with a pickaxe and the bare slips are replanted for the next harvest. The roots removed from the soil are tied into bales, washed and dried in the shade before being distilled.

Leveraging the expertise of the perfumers, scientists and crafting facilities, we developed a refined version of vetiver, revisiting its natural fragrant molecules to create a modern and elegant interpretation of a perfumery classic.
