Angelica Root Oil Belgium

Angelica Root Oil Belgium has an aromatic and spicy profile with musky and earthy undertones. The essential oil contains very small amounts of components such as exaltolide, which gives the musky notes.
Its particular profile blends perfectly with green accords, giving them a fresh, natural character. Its musky, terpenic and spicy facets are an excellent addition to floral heart notes or woody bases.
Native to northern Europe, angelica grows wild in damp and mountainous regions and has been cultivated in European gardens since the Middle Ages. Angelica is an aromatic herbaceous plant that can grow to over two metres in height. It is ephemeral, flowering once and then dying. The inflorescences consist of a dozen yellow-green flowers arranged in broad umbels.
Angelica is grown as two separate crops: one to collect the seeds, the other to harvest the roots. Angelica seeds are harvested when the fruits turn brown, and the stems bearing the umbels are cut off and dried in the open air. In autumn, the rhizomes of one-year-old plants are uprooted and the collected roots are ground and dried at room temperature to preserve the quality of the raw material. The roots are then steam distilled to extract the essential oil.
The name Angelica archangelica comes from the legend that the Archangel Raphael took the root of Angelica to Charlemagne, the Emperor of the West, to save his sick army from the plague. The plant was then considered to be a gift from the angels, hence the name ‘angelica’ or ‘angel weed’.
