The year 2019 has been a glorious one for Givaudan, filled with astonishing sustainability achievements across the board.
Our CEO Gilles Andrier ranked number 30 on the prestigious Harvard Business Review’s (HBR) annual ranking of 100 best-performing CEOs in the world.
The ranking is based both on financial performance and environmental, social and governance (ESG) ratings, but this year saw an increased weight of ESG ratings, reflecting the increasing importance of sustainability.
This was the second year running that the HBR ranked Gilles Andrier.
SXI Sustainability Index: for the first time, Givaudan ranked in the list of top 25 sustainable companies in this year’s SXI Switzerland Sustainability 25 Index®.
The index assesses companies from the SMI® Expanded Index on their sustainability endeavours.
Our ranking in the 2019 EcoVadis survey: With a fantastic score of 72, we were ranked among the top 1% of participating companies, earning us a gold rating for the 6th year in a row, partly due to exceptional results in sustainable procurement!
As a sustainability rating agency whose aim is to compare the environmental and ethical performance of companies in different sectors, EcoVadis’ assessment served as strong validation of the success of Givaudan’s strategy: ‘Responsible growth. Shared success.’
CDP awarded Givaudan leadership scores for climate action and water security.
The non-profit also recognised the Company as world leader for supplier engagement on climate change.
The BCA Green Mark Award: Our Pioneer Encapsulation Plant in Singapore was awarded the BCA Green Mark Gold Award, based on the Green Mark Criteria for new non-residential buildings.
Evaluated in terms of energy effectiveness and environmental performance, it is certain that the Encapsulation Plant will serve as an environmental sustainable development for generations to come.
Our new flagship Innovation Centre (ZIC), inaugurated in Kemptthal, Switzerland received a gold certification from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
The ARC award: Givaudan won the bronze ARC award in the category ‘Integrated AR & CSR’ for our 2018 Integrated Annual Report and Sustainability Progress Review.
The MerComm Annual Report Competition the ARC awards – have honoured excellence in the annual report industry for 30 years.
Hence, this represents a major feat for Givaudan as we pride ourselves on being transparent about our sustainability practices.
‘Best Female Employer in West Java Province for 2018’: Givaudan Indonesia was recognised by the Depok city government for best-in-class gender equality practices, with the Cimanggis site having been awarded second place for ‘Best Female Employer in West Java Province for 2018’.
This award was based on a key focus area for Indonesia’s Ministry of Manpower in West Java – gender equality in business – and consisted of an evaluation of facilities for female employees and company policies pertaining to gender equality. This is an essential step on the path to achieving better balance in the workplace.
