Providing water and sanitation for Haiti villages
Access to drinking water and sanitation installations is still one of the main challenges in many parts of the world. This is particularly true in Haiti, where the Givaudan Foundation has helped local communities.
Givaudan has collaborated for some years with a cooperative of vetiver root farmers in three villages in South Haiti to source organic and fair trade vetiver essential oil. With the support of the Givaudan Foundation, a water and sanitation facility has now been built for villagers. The initiative, led by a group of village women, improves access to drinking water and provides access to sanitation facilities, contributing to the reduction of waterborne diseases within the community.
